Holiday Tips & Tricks

The Holidays are coming up, which means there are going to be sweet treats that are tempting to eat. As much as we love the food that comes with the holidays, it’s important to remember how to best take care of your braces. No one wants a broken bracket for Christmas!

Here are a few tips for keeping your braces in tip top shape during the Holidays.

  1. Make sure you’re brushing flossing after each meal. Flossing after each meal will help keep your brackets clean!

  2. If you’re traveling, it’s a good idea to take extra floss, rubber bands, and wax with you just in case you need them. Feel free to stop by our office to get any needed supplies!

  3. Although you may be tempted to eat the caramels, peanut brittle, candy canes and caramel corn, keep in mind that getting food stuck in your brackets increases the chance of damaging them and delaying your treatment.

  4. Focus on eating the softer (yet delicious) foods. There will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy those bracket damaging foods after your braces are off.

If you’re hesitant about what foods to avoid or how to keep your braces extra clean this holiday season, make sure to check with Meyer Orthodontics!
